Ok, Demo has been out all of a day now so we need some reviews. Along with reviews please post your system specs and your settings.

I was just able to play this today. I tried last night but the game would always crash before the map would load. I would have looping sounds and freezes, sometimes exe exceptions. If anyone else has this problem try the following.

Go to your install directory for CoD2. Find the miles folder and make a Copy of mssmp3.asi.

Go to the miles folder in your CoD4 demo directory and rename that same file. Now paste in the one from CoD2. You should now be able to play. :)

I am not quite ready to add my thoughts on the demo yet, but soon.

The first time I played through the demo I was disappointed because it didn't seem to run very well, and I was about to put the kebash on this game. I took a break and came back and tweaked my settings and now it runs great. I liked the demo; it was pretty intense and I go into it. However it is just as short as the CoD2 demo, and it's really hard to judge what the multiplayer is going to be like. I like the game and I'm pretty excited for it to come out. However I will not be pulling the trigger until I see some in depth reviews of the Multilayer.

I found that the Specular Map makes the models look horrible on my PC. Here is a before and after.

Specular mapping will cause models to look shiny/glossy if the other settings aren't turned up with them (AA/shading/etc) because its basically trying to bitmap shade the lighting.

Reminds me of when you buff/cast a spell on someone in morrowind

The highlights that look all goofy in those screenshots would probably look pretty real with maxed settings.

maybe with a better card then mine, but even if i max the settings the specular mapping still makes it look goofy

Im playing at pretty high settings with next to no lag. I have AA on, biliniear, textures on high, dynamic ligh, specular, etc. I pretty much have everything on but soften smoke edges (turn that crap off, it created so much lag). and for some reason the screenshot looks like its in the wrong aspect ratio, but when I play and took it, it looked normal. Weird.

Very impressed with the demo. Wish they would have put even 1/2 of the detail into COD2. Not much into the modern warfare gig, but I believe I'll buy this one and have some fun with it.
