Well, the certainly sucks! Guess I gotta get used to the punksbusted site. Will aslo need to figure out how to undo the streaming so it does not cause issues.

PBBans, our partner in beating the "cheaters" and maintaining a cheat-free league, has officially closed its doors.

PBBans wrote:I hate to have to report this news, but PBBans has closed its doors.

Over the past few weeks they have been being hit by a DDOS attack on their server. Today they had another attack and the hosting company would not help them overcome the attack. They would have to move to another hosting company to solve the problem which would cost a lot of money, time, and effort.

The time and effort put in by all the staff members at PBBans has been enormous. But a year or so back, they lost one of the two main coders for the website because Evenbalance would not fix a problem with Punkbuster that allowed for bans to be spoofed. This left MaydaX to code the website and keep it running. Him, along with the founder, Rodeobob, now want to get back to their families and lives, so they are closing the doors to PBBans.

Whatever the hell they do, make it to where I can stay connected. Getting pretty pissed off now...

Actually Sabore, your beef is with EVENBALANCE (http://www.evenbalance.com) and not PBBans. PBBans is a community site.

While we are at it, could you please post your exact message when you get kicked. I will do the homework and find you a workaround.

P.S. Try to make sure you are exact in the error message/messages. :)

Well I have no idea what else to do. I did a full system restore, fresh install of COD4 and everything.

The other night when I logged on everything was going fine for a while. We probably played half a dozen maps with no problem. Then all the sudden it would kick me after 1 min of play or less every time. Once it even kicked me and locked me out for 5 minutes.

I've downloaded the pbsetup and updated that way. When that didn't work I manually downloaded the files from evenbalance and still didn't work. I check my processes and PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe are both running and everything "looks" like it should be just fine and dandy.

If anyone has any suggestions for me I'd love em'. Otherwise until then I'm going to work on figuring out my mic problems, between Punkbuster and my Mic I was going insane the other night.

Ok, that eliminates those problem, but again, what is the punkbuster error on your screen when you get kicked?

To help Sabore out - anyone that is on when he gets kicked just grab a quick screenshot for us so we can get this issue solved.

I looked at our violations log and I saw one where it said he was losing key packets. I copied the following from another site.

Are you behind a router?
If so you may need to open the ports for COD4.
Help to do this can be found at www.portforward.com
Select the model of your router and the game and it will give you a step by step guide on how to do it.

Also, from the evenbalance site.

Usually, this message means your PB is not working properly. You should run our PBSETUP program to make sure your PB is up to date.
However, we have recently discovered that some broadband routers routinely drop OOB (Out of Band) packets for no apparent reason. Since all PB packets are OOB, these routers can actually block PB's communication (again for no apparent reason). To determine if the router is the cause of this problem for you, remove the router and connect directly to the internet. If you are able to play this way, then the cause is very likely the router.
Based on user feedback, the following router brands/models are reported to have problems. Not necessarily all models of a brand might be affected, and the list is in no way complete but it can give you a few hints. Also, we do not claim that our list below shows the only solution to fix your issue, nor that it will fix it for sure even though it has worked for others. It could very well be that changing some settings in your router could help as well. Contacting the company directly might help you as well.

* Linksys - possible solution: Use firmware 1.44.2
* Motorola - possible solution: Update to latest firmware
* Netgear - possible solution: Disable SPI (statefull packet inspection)

Also, what firewall are you running? Make damn sure that all the punkbuster exe's have full access.

Firewall is definitely set up correctly.

I could mess with the router a little, since it says sometimes it just randomly drops everything for no reason, and that would make sense with how I could play just fine for hours and then drop suddenly. But the problem is that usually in order to fix the problem I have to restart my system. I never have to restart my router to get it running again.

IE: If I'm playing and it gives me the heartbeat or packet loss errors I'll restart my computer, and it will be fine again. I would think if it was a problem with my router that I'd have to restart my router, not my PC?

My router type is a standard D-Link Wireless router btw.

I don't tend to have problems with my D-link, so I think you should be ok there.

wouldn't hurt to update the firmware if there is a newer one available

What model is the router?

It's a WBR 1310... I just downloaded the newest firmware and am installing it now.

Firmware upgraded... guess we'll see what happens.

Good idea. Try that, and if you still have a problem go to the port forwarding site I linked you to and try forwarding cod4's ports. Can't hurt, but only try one thing at a time so you know what you did to fix it.
