An article @IncGamers (http://www.incgamers.com/News/19161/cod-mw2-pc-dedicated-servers-out-iwnet-is-in) today suggest that IW-NET might be similar to the service deployed by Blizzard, Battlenet (http://www.incgamers.com/Features/239/blizzard-outlines-battlenet-20-features). Remember that ATVI-Blizzard is one company now...

This is actually exactly what I thought of when I heard about their "IWNET" I played Starcraft, Diablo and Warcrafts a lot on Battlenet, and to think of playing CoD with this kind of setup is stupid. It goes along the lines with what the guys were talking about in that interview.
If I setup a custom game as I want it I can make it public or private. If it's public every tom dick and harry can join, and usually it fills up fast, generally with jackasses and assholes. If you join a game someone creates, and they don't like how the game is going then they drop out of the game and the game disappears because the host is gone. Some have worked to where it can randomly assign the host to another player still in the game, but if their wife is on Facebook suddenly everyone's connection goes to shit because they're connected to this guys box.
Same rules apply with private, it's the same thing but password protected. If I create a private game for our guys, and suddenly my internet craps out, or my bandwidth gets bogged down due to someone else on my home network using the net, then it affects everyone connected to my game.
This also creates problems with shitty or cheated maps. Some players will take modded maps, and tweak them to where one team gets higher damage bonus, or more life. Then they go make a public game and make sure they're on the buffed team for their own kicks and giggles because they suck.
If this is the way IW insists on going, I will need to hear a LOT of good things about it and support before I would even consider dumping my money on it.

IWNet represents something I could not possibly care less about, Match making.
Lets just assume for a moment that the pub servers are actually hosted by IW and not peer to peer (unclear at this point), who the feck cares! This is not how we play, and to get things set up the way we want means peer to peer like xbox or like firing up your own home cod server the way you can now.
The more I think about this the more irritated I get. I honestly don't give a flying feck that xbox is p2p, too god damn bad for them! This is what makes PC gaming so great, that we have the power and resources for true proper MP play.
What a bunch of Retards at IW.
